I managed to pick up a Model 34 Flat Latch with a 4" barrel, with a slight turn line on the cylinder. Unfortunately, a previous owner had the side plate engraved with "CSA" and a steer head with prickly pear cactus.
Looking for a replacement, I saw a side plate on Gunbroker, but it was for a Model 36. I went to Nurmrich, and they had a side plate listed for the M34, but when I went to the actual item, it was for a M36.
I bid on the item on gunbroker, won the auction, and received the part. It required the removal of a very little bit of the ;ower edge, to fit it. The color is off just a tiny bit if the light hits it right, and I have set aside the desecrated side plate to go with it, if and when I sell it. Incidentally, the side plate is serialized with the crane, and not main frame.
Lesson learned is that a J-frame side plate does not have to be the same model number to find a replacement side plate.
Sorry, no pictures, but most everyone knows what a Model 34 looks like. It is the J-frame you can still afford to shoot.
