My Model 36 was roll stamped on the right side of the barrel with just "38 S&W Special", whereas my Model 637-2 is roll stamped on the left side with "Smith & Wesson" and underneath that is "38 S&W Spl +P" denoting the higher pressure cartridge with +P on the head stamps.
