Hello, I'm new to the Smith & Wesson world and trying to sort through all the information that's available.
I have the option to buy a Model 36 in a private party sale, but neither of us are sure of the value. Serial number 454426. It's a little rough, but I'd be happy to have it for the right price.

Thanks,
Adam

Those are not the proper stocks, but if you like them then that's not an issue. As for value, I purchased this Model 36 a couple of months ago for $460 plus shipping. Maybe that will give you some idea of a ballpark price.

Welcome aboard from ol' Wyo.

Nice looking Chiefs Special. S&W probably shipped it in the last
quarter of 1966.

The stocks are from Steve Herrett in Idaho. Vintage unknown.
Might be same era as the revolver.

The price by the previous poster is probably about right.

Welcome to the Forum! That's a sweet little Model 36 and in pretty nice condition. Without the original stocks, I agree that it's worth about $450. However, the vintage Herrett aftermarket stocks do have some value. If you could buy it for $400 you'd be getting a good deal. Good luck!
