I stopped in the LGS this weekend because I wanted to pick out a new bow for hunting season. I ran across this Model 36 and the owner of the shop couldn't tell me much about it's age. I'm hoping someone can give me an idea of it's age and how much it might be worth. Serial number J534355 Nickel version 4" I believe. Link is to some photos.

Looks like a 3" barrel to me.

Value? Condition looks to be in about very good condition, somewhere between good and excellent. I cannot tell if it is in original condition (i.e. original factory nickel finish) but it should have a N stamped on the back of the cylinder and a N stamped on the left side of the butt frame under the left grip if it is the original finish. The grips look appropriate to be original. My initial guess at a value is about $400.

Thank you, that is much older than the LGS owner said it was. The gun is in VERY good condition, with barely a mark anywhere. I didn't pull the grips off to see if they numbered to the gun, I probably will when I go back to pick up my bow this week if it's still there. And I assume it will be with his $589 price tag on it. Although the gun hasn't been shot much at all, it barely has a turn line on it. I think his asking price is a bit high.

He also has a Model 41 that he bought this week as well as a Browning Hi Power.
