Can anybody help me date my model 36? I recently got this and it is in amazing condition, which make me curious about it's age. The serial number J4479xx. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Probably about 1976. It should have a contoured cylinder release, since the flat latch went away in about 1966.

If I wanted to date it, I'd probably start by sending it a bottle of Hoppe's #9 and a gift-wrapped box of nice ammunition.

LOL!!! do you think +P is too aggressive for a first date?!!! Already got her some nice CLP message oil. And she does have the contoured latch...I like curves.
