Model 36, DOB and refinish?

Hi, Santa brought me a model 36 Chief's special and it seems in awful good shape. I think it's from the late 60's but has no finish loss other than a turn line. What might be the manufacture date and are there any markings which would show a refinish? Oddly it also appears to have had trigger shoes at one time, has marks on side of trigger. Thought I might ask, hope the pics work, thanks.

Can't help you without a serial number. It's on the bottom of the grip frame.

The latch says 1966 or later. The serial number probably points to 1968.

I see no reason to believe it has been refinished. It is just nicely preserved. A fine little revolver.

I would agree with Jack. No evidence of a refinish. Especially looking at the four-line address stamping (sharpness of the edges of letter stampings is always a good indicator when looking for refinish indicators), it appears crisp and untouched.

Even without being babied, those blue finishes are more resilient than many folks think. If you look at the attached photo, the grip panel of my 1959 NYPD Model 36 is all beaten to heck, but the finish still looks quite acceptable in comparison.
