Model 36

Hi :

Just got a 95% model 36, Serial # J8135xx and I am wondering if someone can answer two questions :

1. When was it made ?

2. When did S&W stop pinning barrels ?

Mine has a pinned barrel and non recessed cylinder.

Shoots great and looks like new......

It was $ 300.00 at a local shop.

M36 dob

Looks to be born in 1981. S@W stopped pinning barrels and recessing cylinders (except .22s, which still are) in 1982.
Sounds like a good deal if it's in good shape.

38 caliber guns were not recessed whether or not they were pinned.
