Never had a J frame or any short barreled revolver. So last month at work a Model 36 is sitting on the counter behind me, busy day at the shop and didn't notice it until a friend that was picking up a transfer said "What's that behind you?"

It was a Model 36, 1 7/8", S/N from my book puts it 1958-59 era. One of the other guys saw it and was going to buy it but I beat him to it. Really glad too, while the bluing is not without some scars it's not bad. He told me that if he had got to it first he was going to have it Cerakoted, what a sacrilege that would have been.

So today I go in, only work a couple days a week and on the back counter is a pretty ornate gun rug. Curiosity so I open it. Inside is another Model 36, this time a 3" barrel circa 1982 and with almost perfect bluing. Included with it is a vintage Bucheimer holster. Couldn't leave it behind.

So now I have two J Frames.

It did but I'm photo challenged using this iPad.

My friend that noticed the first one on the back counter, (we were swamped that day) said that he'd buy it if I didn't. So today coincidentally he called me about another revolver and I told him about the find of the day.

His exact words were "If you decide you don't like it I'd be interested!"

A couple of nice pick ups there shovel. I got a 3" 36-1 a couple years back and love it.

I hope my accuracy is improved with the 3" barrel, while I did ok with the 2" at ten feet the further out the worse I got.

My club has some steel targets at the thirty foot range, I did hear the satisfying sound of a "ping" but attributed that mostly to dumb luck!

I really like the little M36. This one's from '74, good for maybe 30-40 feet, but "dumb luck" really plays an important role! Double action seems easier than single for some reason. A three inch would be interesting.

(Yes, it needs wiped down still.)

I'll make a post about it when I get a chance. It is the little brother to my Model 10.

Shovelhead you will love those 36s they are great carry pieces I have 2 3 inchers and a 2 inch and love them all ,those are 2 great finds and the 3 inch guns are getting tough to find.

I have a 3" heavy bbl model 36 with the square butt in my safe. It seems more like a 3" k frame with herret's on it…amazes me how easily it is to shoot accurately. Congrats on your acquisitions!

Shovel, good thing you got it before the cerakoting. I didn't get mine until after it had been violated, but i got it for a good price and it is a 3". Grips by Curt Harlow.
