Hi all - I just picked up a Smith model 37-2 in Satin Nickel. I don't think the prev. owner put many more than 10 or maybe 20 rounds thru it. I've been a Beretta buff for many years, so I'm kinda out of knowledge on Smith products -- can yall kindly help with some info about this beauty, please ?

Thanks !!!

It is an alloy J frame produced from 1990-'97, prior to the internal lock. A similar model was first produced in the mid-1950s with an alloy cylinder but this part was prone to cracking and replaced with a steel part. The model 37 is no longer made but a similar gun with a stainless barrel and cylinder is, named the model 637.

If you thought the Beretta addiction was bad...:) Enjoy!

My favorite J frame. The -2 variant widened the front sight and moved away from the butter knife thin blade. Gotta love it for that alone. Love that electroless nickel, you bought a keeper.
