Model 37 barrel alignment problems

At 36 to the inch a full turn is .02777. 5 degrees is 1/72 of a turn .02777 divided by 72 is .00037. As most gaps are in the .006 range, you probably wouldn't need to adjust the gap.
Hopefully if the gap is good to start with, but especially given the workmanship seen, I'd check it and take the opportunity to fix it if it needs it while while the barrel is off. If the gap is too big, then the barrel thread work could fix it, even if it requires a full turn and then adjust the gap. Good point - love seeing things in numbers so then you have real knowledge and not a guess.

If it belonged to me I would pad the barrel with a piece of leather and turn it with a pair of channel locks until the cyl locking pin and the barrel locking lug lined up and them apply some green wicking Loctite around the threads. The barrel pin could be drifted a little and the Loctite applied to the hole and the pin tapped back in. Green Loctite is high strength. Let it set for about 24 hrs and use it. For SD at about 10 ft it will shoot close enough. The 37 was meant to be carried a lot and shot little. It will serve for SD for a lifetime.

Someone liked to play cowboy with it, the yoke is bent from not closing it the right way. Easy fix if you know what to do. a wedge of wood and how to use it will fix in 5 mins. don't shoot it unless you want to lose a finger.

If the yoke is bent why does it close up against the frame with no gap.

Lets all be glad it does not belong to you. While I love channel locks, I would NEVER use them to tighten a frame steel or alloy. As it is an alloy frame it definitely needs to be fully supported before tightening or loosening. It wouldn't be hard to remove the pin and unscrew the barrel if it is loose and reinstall with some green loctite
