I put this here so it reaches more folks that in the Gunsmithing area.
I have this model 37 that is with me most all the time
The last time I was at the range I fired off the ammo that was in it and another 5 rounds, All is fine, Reload it and tuck it back in the IWB holster and I dont think twice.
Well when I got home, I took to cleaning what we fired that day, I unloaded the 37 and went to do a function test, Well the hammer went 50% back and the gun locked up.
I was able to push the hammer back down(yes it's unloaded) and then the cylinder would not open, The thing was 100% locked up.
I pulled the grips and found that these Horn grips had the 1/2 round discs epoxyed in and one fell off, Lodges itself against the mainspring and when I pushed the hammer forward, It dislodged the spring from the back of the hammer, And got stuck between the hammer and side plate....................
I removed both discs and scuffed and reglued them, Then drilled pilot holes and installed little brass screws coated in glue.
I never would have thought that the disc would come off and make a real bad issue rendering the gun useless.
So I hope that this reaches someone who has glued discs on their carry gun and now is going to make adjustments.
Take care and remember, You carry a gun to not shoot it, But if it's needed and doesnt work, What's the point.
Peter.
