Would like to impose on the collective genius of this forum. Just picked this up 38-2 from local gun store and was wondering if any of the forum members had an idea of production date and info. Thanks Bob

I think 1996-1997. That's my guess. I have a older book so that's what I came up with.

Serial numbers with the three-letter prefix are notoriously difficult to date accurately from the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson as the company did not necessarily issue these numbers in sequence. There are dedicated experts on this forum who maintain their own databases of serial numbers. They may be able to narrow down the shipping date of your revolver.

However, based on the SCSW, serial numbers with the CB(X) prefix were shipped between 1996 and 1999.
