A local person is trying to sell a 3913NL.

It has black plastic grips.

I already have a 3913LS, and the grips are light gray.

The catalog says the 3913NL is identical to the 3913LS version except no Lady Smith logo on the side.

And I remember seeing picture of 3913NL's with the gray grips.

Question: Did the 3913NL come with either color of grip, or did someone replace the light gray grips on the one that is for sale?

I bought new 3913 LS grips from Midway for my LS I bought on GB.
Haven't put them on, the originals look great, just a crumby pic in the ad.
And Kraynky is so right about greys.
Sharp.

I have a feeling that the NL shipped both ways, depending on the mood of the assembler that day.

I tried a set of LS gray grips on my regular 3913, but ended up not liking the look so changed them back.

You can usually tell if the gray and black grips have been switched simply by the color of the grip pin - gray grips used a silver pin and black grips used a dark pin. At the time I replaced my gray LS pre-recall grips, S&W was out of gray so I had them send me black - I actually like that look much better.

I've had a few 3913NL's with both grip colors. It's my understanding that the early ones came with the black grips, and that the gray came out later in the production run.

It's been over 20 years ;closer to 25 ( I had a 3913 and grabbed the first 3913NL I could get my hands on)...... but I recall mine coming with black grips.
