Model 41 Buffer

I see Midway and Brownells offer recoil buffers for the Model 41. Has anyone used a recoil buffer on their 41, and if so what is your recommendation.

I put a buffer in my model 41 because I liked to shoot Walmart ammo when you could get it.
A lot of people post about the frame cracking if you don't.

I can't say I bought into that but decided to try the buffer anyway. I had more reliability problems with the buffer. Everyone I spoke to said don't worry about it. They are a very strong steel gun and can take a lot of heavy use.

I never planned for mine to be a safe queen but that is where it sits most of the time. I take my Rugers to the range, If I want to set them on the concrete shooting bench, or a dirty piece of wood, or even in the gravel, I can. I couldn't bring myself to do that with the model 41.

I say do whatever you feel like and you won't be wrong.

IMHO a waste of money. I have had a M41 for about 25 years and never used a buffer despite occasionally using high and hyper velocity ammo. The gun still shoots fine in bullseye matches w/o hiccups.

I have a Buffer in mine and haven't had any problems. I put the buffer in to shoot Federal Auto Match @1250fps until CCI SV becomes available.

I run my early sixties model with a buffer 'cause its favorite ammo is CCI Blazer. Fortunately, I stocked up on ammo before the current panic.

No buffer needed. Wolf makes heavier recoil springs for the 41.
