Aloha to all. I've owned my Model 41 since 2008 brand new. Never had a problem until recently. I couldn't get through a magazine without having the spent round not eject and the new round getting hung up underneath the spent round. Got it all cleaned out and spotless and ran a few dummy rounds through the pistol with the same problem happening. Hoping that a new Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor will resolve this issue. I may do the Guntalk-online tuning adjustment on the original extractor. Anyone used the Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor? How about tuning and adjusting the original extractor when having this problem of having the spent round not eject and the new round getting hung up underneath the spent round?

This may be the page you are referring to, but if not, check here for some added info:

Model 41 maintenance

Sorry but I'm not familiar with the extractor you mentioned. Have you taken the slide apart and cleaned the bolt, and the extract spring and plunger, etc.? How about the recoil spring....has it been replaced?

Try cleanng the chamber real well.

I have had the same problem several times. I found that really cleaning the bore chamber very well solves the problem. I used a new brass brush in a drill but go slow.

Yes, that's the page I am referring to. I've detail stripped the slide, bolt, extractor, etc. Recoil spring has not been replaced.

I'll see if cleaning the bore chamber will help but I will mention that the barrel had been soaking for a day in some gentle gun cleaner and bore was cleaned meticulously.

I'll see if the Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor works out. It only costs $12 so I'll give it a try and let you guys know.

What ammo are you useing as that can also be the cause of the problem. A lot of brands will do that in the M41's. They do usually prefer the CII SV ammo the best.

I use American Eagle, Winchester, CCI, Remington ammo. It doesn't matter which ammo. All ammo used to work quite well with my Model 41 except cheap bulk ammo.

Cheap Bulk ammo is no good for any of our guns needless to say. My 1958 is very picky on what it likes and will not shoot most of the brands yours will. No Eagle, Winchester or Remington at all. CCI yes of course.

I'm finding out that you may be right about cleaning the bore chamber. I tried dropping a few rounds in the bore chamber and they didn't slip in easily. I guess I didn't clean the bore as good as I thought I did. I did install the new Volquartsen Exact Edge extractor though. BTW, I ordered it directly from Volquartsen and they shipped quick to Hawaii, nice. Open day at the range isn't until next Saturday. I'll be hoping all goes well then.

Just a follow up on my quest for a resolution on my Model 41 issues. After doing the suggestions on this thread, replacing the extractor with the Volquartsen model, and replacing the recoil springs with Wolff ones, I was able to finally get my gun to run without stovepipes, FTE, etc. Shot it today and got through several magazines without a hitch. I am loving my Model 41 again. Fun gun to shoot and accurate.
