I have been searching around this site for over an hour trying to find some sort of serial number chart to give me an aprox year of production of a mod. 41. I 'm sorry for asking but will someone point me in the right direction. That said I'm really more interested in knowing if the gun in question is from a time when they were made , how should I say this, well. No disrespect intended to the factory or its workers but we all know that some times were more preferred than others. This gun is available to me for a very fair price and appears to be unfired and in beautiful condition. Mod 41 7" ser# BMC1737. I have an early A prefix gun with a cocking ndicator wich is very accurate and trouble free, should I expect the same from this newer model? Best, TonyR

Looks like it was made sometime in February 1993.
As for being as good as the older A prefix, well, let's just say
that people like the older ones better. Not that newer is bad,
just not the same as the older.

Borrowed this from Rimfire Central

I'm just glad S&W still makes Model 41 pistols. My Model 41 (circa 2008) shoots like a dream and is accurate if I do my part.
