I want to install a rear iron sight on my Model 41 with a 5.5" HB. It was bought new back in the late 90's from Gil Hebard. I tried a Bo-Mar from Brownells that was supposedly made for the 41, but it doesn't fit. I contacted S&W customer service and they think it is cut for a Millett.

Here's the dovetail. Does anyone know if the newer Keng (Bo-Mar-ish) style would also fit the Millett cut? If I have to, I'll pick up a Millett from Numrich. However, my preference would be for the Keng, if possible.

Thanks

Unfortunately, the BoMar simply doesn't work. Maybe it was for the longer barrel.

The sight is sloppy-loose in the dovetail. That's fixable (while not ideally) with a shim. The problem is that the rear tang of the barrel is too high to allow for any elevation adjustment. Fixing requires grinding and filing. Before going that route, I'd much rather just find the right sight.

I would look on ebay or gunbroker. Depending numrich can be expensive. I have learned it is better to call them when looking for parts. Sometimes they have stuff in there warehouse that is not online. Also try www.k22bob.com. Ask for Scott he is very knowledgable and specializes in Smith and Wesson accessories and parts.

Thank you, but I haven't had any trouble locating the different sights. My problem is that I'm trying to figure out the right one.
