Model 48 popularity

They aren't as common or popular as the Long Rifle versions of the K-22, but they do have a following. .22 LR's are a lot cheaper to shoot, but the MRF cartridge does a better job on medium size pests. They're also rather loud!

Unpopular? I wouldn't say so, somewhat hard to find especially the early no dash models. Some of us like them quite a lot. Here are my favorites; 4 inch no dash, 6 inch -4, 8 3/8 -3 and a 648 with non-factory finish.

I think the 48s are great. I have a 4", 6" and two 8 3/8". The older 8 3/8 (1959 no dash) is accurate to the extreme. The newer of my long tubes has the optional LR cylinder. I haven't had the opportunity to put them up, head to head yet. And no, I don't see them for sale as often as many other models like the 17s and 18s.

The 22 magnum has always been a niche caliber. It has a loyal following but not a huge one. To many people look at it as a expensive 22 Long Rifle, which isn't really a fair comparison.

Those are sweet six guns my friends. Thanks for posting. I have never fired one. Maybe I should change that!

I've watched for a M-48 for years. Not needed but wanted;). I wanted a no-dash as that's just the quirk in me. I had a beautiful m-17, a pre-18 and a 17-6. I often thought about getting an extra .22 cylinder and re-chambering to .22 Mag. Then this walked into a LGS,,, Yes,,, It's not a M-48. But it was there, priced right, and added another round-gun to the herd.

Yes,,, they are LOUDER! But that's what muffs are for.
