Model 49

A local dealer has a Model 49(no dash) with box and papers for $499. Should I jump on this? Looks to be about 95% condition.

Seems a little high for me, and I LOVE the 49's. A forum member recently bought one for under $300 if I remember correctly, though probably not in as good a condition. You may want to do a seach to find the thread/comments.

Ok, thanks. This shop isn't known for dealing and their gun prices tend to be $100-$150 high, but I could give it a shot.

A Model 49 in excellent condition would run about $400 around here. I think your guy is about $100 high.

Picked one up a few months ago in similar condition with box but no papers for $385.

You never see them for sale here in Minnesota, if they do turn up a Model 49 will sell pretty quickly. With a box and papers $500 isn't horrible, since it's a dealer I would try to get it for $500 OTD...

Model 49s are scarce in NY also. $400 would be a fair price, but $500 it too much IMO. Sorry.

Depends...is it worth a hundy not to have a lock and MIM? It is to me...I have regretted NOT buying a gun, but have never lost sleep over paying 50 or so over what a gun is going for.
