Around here, which is not California, I could probably get $650-$700 for a decent example. More for a 3".
With the original box, paperwork, and tools maybe a bit more than

Based on several others in the database that bracket the one you
mentioned, I'd guess S&W shipped it in the summer of '71.
If the stocks are original, the inside of the right one will have the
serial number sans J will be stamped on it. That's an important
value consideration, too. They'll look like the ones on my Model 38.

Thanks for the info, I pulled the grips and the only mark is the letter, "J" on the right grip.
