A dealer friend of mine got a gun in and has no idea of value, so he is hesitant to put a price on it.

It has a nickel finish, 3 1/2 inch barrel, in perfect condition, with both the LR & Mag cylinders. He said it appears that it was never shot, as there is not even a turn line on either cylinder. It has a box, but the end of says it is for a blue gun.
SN is M42xx. Can anyone give me an idea of value please?

Bill - I'm sorry I can't help you on value but I can tell you that I can't wait to see a picture of it once you bring it home!
Sitting on the edge of my seat :)

Hey Mike:

Who says I'm going to buy it?:D

I was entertaining the thought of perhaps getting it, but now you've gone and put the pressure on me.:p

Went to look at the 51 this morning, and had to bust the dealers bubble, unfortunately.

The gun is a square butt and originally was blued as it left the factory. It now wears electroless nickle or an Armolloy finish, and the value is nowhere near what he had thought it would be.

I'm not sure I want the gun and told him it will not fetch near the price of an original, even with the extra cylinder.

Win some, lose some. He had taken the gun in on a trade, but I have no idea what he has in it, money wise.

Here is a real nickel 51, made in the late 60s. (also in the picture is a model 650):
