Hey all!
I am trying to help out a friend with a model 52 .38. He is having feed and extraction problems. Regardless of ammo load he gets jam ups feeding and failure to extract. Very intermittent, it will work well and than act up. Everything looks good and clean. He has tried other mags and the same results.

I know this does not explain in great detail but it is a start.

Thanks

Has he tried it with factory ammo? That would be my first step.

The only time any of my 52s have played up is when the loads become too soft.
Provided the gun is clean, extraction problems are more likely low power loads. With underpowered loads you can have the slide travel back just enough for the case to eject then the loading round not peeled properly from the mag and jam.
Load the mag with EMPTY cases and cycle by hand allowing the slide to drop, if empty cases cycle ok it’s his loads. I did once see a poorly cut feed ramp that was causing feed issues, unlikely in your case as it will not affect extraction.

if he is trying to run it on the dry side, that will have an effect too.

Only problem ever in my 52-2 was with some Sellier & Bellot Ammunition with a muzzle velocity listed at 699 fps. The magic number for smooth function in mine is somewhere above 710 fps.

I really appreciate the info folks. I will pass this on to him. I will let you know how he makes out.
Thanks again
Royce
