Model 52 serial number question

I was recently reviewing my 52-2 and looked up the serial number to determine age and was surprised.
- first, it is now old enough now to be C&R
- 2nd, the serial number doesn't fit the established serial ranges
Serial is A105113 where SCS&W shows "A" prefix serials starting at A115001, indicating it is either a mis-stamp or serial range started earlier than documented. Probably mistake in factory records regarding start of range or prototype.

I have a -2 with SN 106XXX and I have a -1 with SN 104XXX. So yours is probably one of the early -2's.

The 3rd edition of the SCSW is wrong. A number of 52-2's were found in the A105,XXX range and up. Yours probably shipped between 1971 and 1973. Only a letter would tell for sure, but it's not an anomaly.
