Looked at a model 520 today. The revolver is a 90 or 95%,just a hint of turn line but it has been fired. No box price 699. How does the price sound?

Buy it now.

I recently purchased a near mint 520 with box and papers for twice that, and I felt it was a fair price. The 520 is an interesting bird ... N frame .357 with fixed sights, and the NYSP historical connection (although never issued). I doubt you will lose a cent if you chose to resell it here.

If you want it buy it now; I have one lnib for a grand.

I kick myself for not buying one for $725 couple years ago....I'd buy it, but I'm looking for one, as a companion for my m58.

Buy it! Most guys buy the NIB version for $1200+, and can't
shoot it because it so pristine. They put it in the safe. They
wring their hands wishing they could shoot it. Yours, on the
other hand, is a nice shooter to be taken down to the local
range and shot a lot. If you have to unload it in the future,
you'll have no problem getting your money back, and then
some. :D

Thank all of you for the information. I purchased the revolver. Looking at the revolver at home I have to look hard to see any turn line but S&W built there revolvers to shoot so I will. Now when one of my tec savvy sons comes home I will post pictures. Can anyone tell me why the New York State Police did not take the 520?

The 520 is on my wish list but the escalating prices keep me from getting one right now. Sounds like you got a great deal..

I got mine in 1998 or so, NIB for $425 OTD. I had no idea ,what I had, or that they would someday command a priemum. I bought it as a shooter, but I never did.

I've read they couldn't wait the six months they were told it would require to fill the order. They went with Model 28s instead, because they were in stock. I have no way of knowing if that is the truth, but it's on the internet!

A month or so ago I traded for an unfired 520 still in the box. I had all intentions of shooting it as soon as I could get my hands on it. Well, I got my hands on it, and I still haven't shot it even though I despise the concept of "safe queens". I REALLY want to shoot it in a bad, bad way, but so far I've failed in allowing it to happen. A series of good trades has me in this 520 for maybe $900 tops, so I figure I can shoot it, take good care of it, and still come out just fine.

Now if I can only make myself tote it to the range.......

Thloncoach I also plan to shoot my 520 but temp has hit the skids 19 degrees and falling. I have looked for a 520 for some time and never ran across one until last week in a local shop. I've never seen one in Tulsa and find one a few miles from home you just never know.

Scott thank you for the info on why the New York State Police purchase did not go thru.
