Stopped by my LGS this AM and they showed me a S&W for my opinion.
I am not a fan of the 41 Magnum so need a little help.
Gun is a 41 Magnum with 8 3/8" barrel, RR/WO , 3-T's and is in immaculate condition with only a slight trace of turn line and no cartridge prints on recoil shield. Finish is the old deep blue luster and could pass for "unfired". S/N is N8996XX which would put it in the '81-'82 period. Gun is marked "571" with no dash or space between the seven and the one. Grips are rubber and there is no box or papers.
While gun is very nice, is there anything unusual here or is this just a run-of- the-mill revolver. What should something like this sell for?
Thanks!!!

Sounds like a standard production gun. Those model numbers and dash numbers sometimes look like they were done by hand too early on a Monday morn.

Long-barrelled 57s are not just everywhere, but not everyone wants one too. Given that, and the fact that the gun is not a pinned/recessed model, I would agree that the $600-$700 figure would be likely in my area. The rubber stocks would probably steer the price more toward the low end of that range.
