Welcome from Virginia! That is a real sweet looking Model 57. I love the N frames, either Nickel or Blue.
Yours appears to be for sure 1980. The tip-off is that (IF that is actually the original wooden case....and it probably is) the gun is pointing to the right when in the case. This orientation was only used a couple of years per the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (our "bible" around here). As already posted above, the tools are not original and there should be a tool box "cover".
Below pics are my 2 1980 N frames and their cases & accessories. The Model 29-2 (44 Magnum) has its original wooden case, tools, and tool box cover, however the blue flocking is long gone, deteriorated to dust. The serial number on the 29-2 is N 798XXX.
The other gun is a Model 27-2 (357 Magnum) in Nickel finish and this gun came with everything, meaning blue box numbered to the gun, original wooden case, out cardboard shipping container, unopened tools in bag, documents. However prior owner had evidently relined the top foam liner, and the bottom blow molded black plastic liner with maroon velvet. It is a very nice job, corners and all well fitting, but not original. Also evidently the tools would have never fit in the box cutout if lined with maroon velvet, so he/she covered right over it and then added another cleaning rod and SAT, just sitting on top. Serial number of the 27-2 is N 733XXX
Note that both guns point to the right.
In any event you have a nice one. I don't have anything in .41 so I'm still on the lookout for one like yours, blue or nickel, then I can add another caliber to "ye ol ammo pile"
