I'm new to this forum and a few of my carolinashooters forum friends told me to come here for my smith questions. So here is the question. I have a model 58 no dash in nickel serial # S2628xx. what would be the bb value no box or papers. Gun looks better than the pics it's hard to photo nickel.

The stocks are not original to the gun they would have come with magnas, and I am not for sure but I dont think they came with a target hammer and trigger.

ColbyBruce's gun has the smaller Magna stocks with a silver grip adapter.

Guns around S 262000 should have shipped in 1966; Forum members may have documentation of a specific gun's serial number in a factory letter and will tell you to give you an idea of when your gun was shipped.

there is a cult following for the 58 and prices reflect the popularity.

This gun is "full target" with larger stocks, hammer and trigger. The last two are very likely not original and were installed by a gunsmith. The lack of originality will hurt value a bit but I think it would still sell for $650-$800 depending on who is shopping at the time.

At yesterday's gun show, there were M58s with price tags (different from selling) ranging from a low of $750 up to $1250. It at least gives you a range to pick from.

I have seen 2 58s in the original box with TT and TH so marked on the box... I would also bet there were guns like this one shipped with TS also...especially if the TH and TT were original.

I keep hearing that here, but I keep running across 58's with semi-target hammers and wider triggers. I've seen enough of them to be very skeptical that some mad gunsmith was collecting up all he could and was replacing those parts . . . :p

I agree, and we know there were 58's shipped from the factory with TH and TT's.....
To think that someone hoarded 100's of them to replace the trigger and hammer....well, I doubt it happened like that

I was going to sell it but I think I will keep her. My friend said he could get me a nice set of magna grips for 40 bucks. Where do you find the t grips at?

S259,4xxx....

Not far off from yours...

Note the stock type which is properly designated "Modified Magna" for the rounded edges at the bottom.

Also note that stocks from this era will have the 'Diamond' around the screw hole.

These stocks can be pretty tough to find. Two S-frame 58's in the past year have come to me without the stocks. The last pair I bought I paid $150 for and considered it a bargain.

Good Luck in your search.

Excellent idea on keeping it. Did the same thing years ago and regretted it till I found another. Cost much more the second time around. I would not take a penny less than $800.00 for it. Santa looks like a mean little elf and would probably put up a good fight for it.

Your friend is hooking you up on the magnas. You can find them Tylers here for sale in the Accessories For Sale section or place a post in the Want to Buy area or try E-Bay.
