model 58 info needed

hi, i just bought a model 58 41 mag, exc plus condition, just some holster wear on the barrel
smith said it was made in 65" paid $500.00
did i do good? how do these guns handle, best loads for range and defence. all comments welcome.

$2-300 under value good... That makes it great... On the other hand...that 1965 will be a "S" prefix serial number...that would be $3-400 under valued... Does it have the original serial numbered to the gun PC Magna grips on it?

The M58 is an excellent shooter. For the duplicate of the original 210 lead Police Load try Georgia Arms...they have a hardcast 210 going in the 900s from a 4" barrel. My favorite defensive load for the 58 would be the Speer 210 Gold Dot HP...1180 fps from a 4" and not bad for recoil...

Sounds like a super deal. I've never shot one, but a 4" N-Frame with fixed sights has to be at the top of the list of best self-defense revolvers.
 
the grips are smith smooth target, thay look nice but not the magnas. will post some pics when the gun come in, sometime next week.
