Model 58 Sighting

When I bought my 58, the seller threw in a box of the cor-bon 170 grainers with the deal. I don't have a chrono, but you are definitely not undergunned carrying 6 of those HP's in your 58. Enjoy the gun. I like to hike in the mountains with my dog and the 58 comes along for two or four legged protection.

Sorry for the bad photo

Velocity for the 170 CorBon ammo is 1275+-. It uses a 170 grain Sierra JHC bullet that is pretty tough.... It is a medium velocity load made for self-defense giving up a little in possible velocity for more control...

This is the great thing about all of Smith and Wesson's offerings. They made so many different guns that were legitimately awesome, that there is something for everyone.

I saw a mint, mint, mint Model 58 at a not so Local Gun Store. it would be mine for $800 out the door. "S" Serial Number, Diamond Magnas, Lazy Ampersand.

It just didn't speak to me, so I passed. It's not a diss on the gun at all. It was beautiful, just not my thing.

But the 58 has Tons of fans, and I think that is great, I really do.

I'm still waiting for a range report from scotchblade. Let's hear it Member!;)

Well, there has been a slight delay. Here in CA there is a 10 day wait period and I just got a call from the very apologetic dealer that they made an error when submitting the paperwork.

I can't get back there to redo it until Tuesday (on their dime) so it won't be until December 13 that I am able to pick it up.

But I'll surely follow up shortly after. Thanks again to you all for being so helpful. What a great group.

Happy holidays

What kinds of revolvers are not for sale in CA? I thought it was just assault weapons.

If it's not on this list, it can not be brought in from out of state. See any older Smiths on there? Or Ruger Security Six? No. So online sources like Gunbroker are not an option.

You can purchase off roster handguns via a private party or consignment, so it's not like they are banned. Prices here run higher too.

We pay for wearing short sleeves and sandals in November. In more ways than one. ;)
