Hey guys another value question, lol. I know you get them all the time. So what's a 586 worth? I may have a chance to trade one for a like new G17. the 586 is about 90% or so, has some muzzle/holster wear and a few marks on the barrel. Other than a little wear it looks to be in good shape. The trigger and hammer look color hardened if that makes a difference. Are these at all hard to find and/or collectible? Are they more collectible than a 686, lets say? It's 4" BTW.

Thanks

:) In my neck of the woods Glock 17's are going for about $450 so I think I would trade with him. I should say that I am not a Glock fan. Don

I recently sold a 6" no dash in excellent shape for $500.00, no box or papers. The 586's are excellent guns.

4" 586s are nice, and worth about $450 or so as Don described. They are not rare but are popular, and out of production. On a strictly dollar basis, if you just paid MSRP for a new G17 you probably will lose a little in the deal, but you won't regret having the 586 even if it means being uneven a few dollars.

We like photos if you do get it :)

Here's some pics. I'm sure some guys from the forum I found this will recognize the pics. What do you think now? Same opinions? I've got probably $450 in this G17, but would probably replace it later on wiht a 19.

Go for it!

Trading some tactical tupperware for some fine American steel is a win in my book.

4" 586's are a bit tougher to find than the 6"ers, so you're doing good there, and you can always go out tomorrow and buy a new Glock, but 586's have been out of production for some time now.......and likely won't ever come back into production.

IMO 4" .357's are the best all around, best handling revolvers. My 4" .357's can do everything my 6" guns can do. For shooting at the range you won't even notice an accuracy difference, and is better for all around use like HD or carry.

Here's one thing you might want to take into account........if the Glock 17 and the M-586 are close in value today, you can bet on the fact that 10 years from now the M-586 will have a higher value. The M-586 will appreciate at a faster rate than the Glock.

While the 586's are not rare they are certainly harder to find than Glock 17's ........... you can easily find another G-17, JMO.

It's a nice looking 586 and I would trade for it for the reasons others have mention plus it's a fantastic revolver and not being made anymore. I have a lot of Semi Auto pistols and I find myself shooting and the revolvers more and more these days as I just plain enjoy them.

I bought a no-dash 4 inch 586 back in December in about the same shape as the one pictured. I had been looking for one to fill a hole in an L frame no-dash collection but its a great gun in its own right. I gave $500 for it. I don't think I got a bargin on it but they're not common and I'd do it again. Good luck with your choice.

I just picked one up and I love it! Got a fantastic deal at a pawn shop that has been so busy they didn't even clean the gun up.

It is very accurate and has a super nice trigger pull.

Here's my first attempt at posting a picture..
