Has the Model 586 ever been factory issued with a nickel finish?

Yes, according to SCSW page 248, the 586 came in blue or nickel. They are both beautiful. If you are concerned the finish is not factory, look on the side of the frame under the grips for any rework marks. If you find something suspicious, report back and someone will tell you what it means.

Yup nickel, blue 2.5", 4", 6" and 8 3/8". I hear there were 3" and 4 1/4" but I have yet to see one in person.
