Model 60 bobbed hammer

I purchased a bobbed hammer for my S&W Model 60-4. So I disassembled the revolver, removed the stock hammer with the spur, and installed the new one. Put the revolver back together and...
The revolver will not cock. I pull the trigger and the bobbed hammer moves back about half an inch and stops dead. So I removed the bobbed hammer and reinstalled the spur hammer. Gun works fine.
Except for the fact that one hammer has a spur and the other one doesn't, the two hammers appear identical to me.
Does anyone have any idea what I did wrong?

Try using the original sear from the spurred hammer in the bobbed hammer

I agree-otherwise it will require fitting. No big deal to swap.

It might need some fitting. I was lucky with my 60 no dash, no fitting required. Dropped it in and it works like a charme.
Is the bobbed hammer also 60-4 version?

I would like to buy your spurred hammer if it is for sale. I have a bobbed hammer but need a spur to allow these old hands to cock it.

I presume the bobbed hammer worked fine on single action, if so you're good to go.

I agree with the above, use your original DA sear (hammer fly). Be careful not to lose the small spring when you drive out the sear retaining pin.

Messers 1484 and 38: Hmmm, switch the sears? Great idea. So I disassembled the Model 60 AGAIN. Now I have two hammers to fiddle with. I used some 6 mm wide Tamiya masking tape (from my rocket building - Level 1 high power) to secure the ends of the sear while removing the sear pin. Don't want that pesky little spring to escape. So I switched the sears and reassembled the gun with the bobbed hammer. It works!
Mr 5X: I'm sorry, sir, but the spurred hammer is not for sale.
Mr 44: I'm glad you guys have numbers. The Model 60 works fine in double action with the bobbed hammer. But it will not hold in the fully cocked position. Now what?
My intention in installing a bobbed hammer was to make the gun a better concealed carry piece. A bobbed hammer is much less likely to snag on anything. But I did not mean to render it double action only. Is there a way to restore the single action function with the bobbed hammer?

I have an NY-1 marked Model 60, with the factory bobbed hammer. This is a double action only hammer. I suggest you compare the two hammers again and you'll likely see that the bobbed hammer has no single action sear notch.

Before you changed the DA sear the bobbed hammer worked for single action right? Are you functioning the gun with side plate off? You don't want to do that because the hammer and trigger pivot will studs can flex and even break when not supported by the side plate. That may be the hammer won't stay cocked in SA

Ken L: You are correct sir. The bobbed hammer does not have a single action sear notch. So I got out the files and other implements of destruction to make my own SASN. The bobbed hammer looks more like the original.
With the side plate removed and the hammer spring not installed, the bobbed hammer will hold the fully cocked position. I can see it lock up. But as soon as I reinstall the side plate and hammer spring, it will not. Carefully cocking the hammer by hand I can hear that last "click" - it wants to go into fully cocked, but it will not hold.
