Hi

I have a model 60 no dash 38 Special. I was thinking of getting a set of Ahrends Boot Grips for it. Any one have any experience with these? Thanks in advance.

I briefly had a J-frame set some years ago for a 442 I ended up selling. I never shot the gun with the grips. They didn't feel secure while I was holding it. I think it was the lack of a palm swell. I've never tried the version with finger grooves.

I am a big fan of Spegel boot grips, though. I don't particularly care for the finger grooves but the palm swell shape and speedloader cutout more than makes up for it. The only thing I'd do differently would be to get the checkered version.

ETA: I found a photo of the 442 with the Ahrends boot grips. I believe they were cocobolo.

I had them and used them once at the range. Very little to grip. They are small and thin. For shooting I prefer the Hogue Bantams (sp?) or the old Uncle Mikes. Even the new rubber S&W small grips are pretty good.
