I have a model 60-nothing. I would like to bob the hammer. I really don't want to bob the original hammer. Would it be practical to buy another hammer and have it bobbed and installed? I was also thinking about trying to find a bodyguard hammer and having it installed. Would a bodyguard hammer even work in a M60? Any suggestions. I am not going to do the work myself. I'll take it to a gunsmith but I just wanted to get some suggestion before I get started.

S&W sells a factory bobbed hammer that will fit the model 60.

Part number 03918 should work since you have a forged trigger.

Thanks for the help, allglock. The trigger and hammer on my M60 look stainless steel. I looked up that part on the S&W web site and it's for a M36. Will that part be SS? I didn't see a bobbed hammer on the M60 page. I did find a M60 NYPD hammer on e-gunparts but they were out of stock. Do you know if the NYPD hammer is SS? Sorry about all the questions but I'm new to this.

Your newly-purchased bobbed hammer will likely have to be fitted with the other internals of your M60.

I carry a bobbed-hammer M60 [with Tyler T-grip and smooth factory presentation grips] on occasion and have yet to go an hour at the local gun shows without someone begging to buy it.
