That would be a tough choice for me.

If you intend to shoot full-house .357 at least once a month get the SP-101.

I've had my 2.25" since early 1993. Bobbed the spur off the hammer but can still go SA by starting the hammer back with the trigger and pulling its top. It has ridden many a mile in my front pocket.

I will admit that it can get to feel a bit burdensome when the weather is hot and muggy. Particularly when wearing light Summer clothing like shorts. So I bought a NAA Guardian .380 for those times. It's not much more noticible than my Blackberry in my pocket.

But lately I've been thinking of adding a J-frame (.38 only) to the collection. Partly because it's a S&W but partly to slot between the .380 and the SP-101 in the bulk .vs power equation. Might possibly look to an airweight.

The model 60 PRO is much smoother out of the box and if you feel the need you can always tune it. I don't really think it needs it though. I own a couple of model 60's, 1 PRO series and 1 3" fixed sighted version. Both are carried on a regular basis. The Rugers, though tough as nails are gritty and heavy in the action department. IMO

Both have good points. The Ruger is very tough, extra weight absorbs recoil from .357s, and it costs quite a bit less but it needs some polishing and springs to smooth out and lighten up the trigger. The 60 Pro, if I recall correctly, has a tritium front sight, chamfered charge holes, is lighter, and has really nice grips, but it has the lock.
I went with the 3" SP101 because I knew I wouldn't mind if it got dinged up from carrying it. YMMV.

I have a DAO variant of the SP101. The trigger has been broken in to perfection and I feel quite safe knowing its at my side! Its weight is of no consequence as when its spent its 5 rounds, it makes for a great bludgeon :)

If you have the 2.25" barrel fire it near dusk sometime with full-house 125gr loads.

6 foot diameter fireball.

So, it counts as a flamethrower too :D

Scott,

I'll try my DAO SP101 at night and check it out. Sounds fun!

I know, next time I can't find my keys or something, I'll just start firing it and look around. Use it as a "flash" light. :D

It depends what you want. If you want a strong reliable revolver get the Ruger. If you want an over priced piece of junk with MIM parts and internal lock get the Smith.

Inappropriate post, and reported as such, that adds little in constructive forum discussion.

Both are very well made revolvers and each fills its intended niche quite well. I prefer the M60 2.25" barrel for the fact it is lighter and easier to carry in most circumstances. I tried a 3" 360 NG yesterday and even with the extra inch of barrel length it rode nicely in my pocket holster.
