I have my eye on a 625-4 5" barrel with box and papers, they are asking $560 otd. It appears to be in great shape, is this a good price or should I hold out?

Wasn't really looking for this gun but the .45acp revolver definitely seems like it would be a fun gun to have.

Thanks for any input!

I wouldn't let my 625-2 go that cheap. They are desireable guns and it probably won't last long at that price...

Just bought a 625-8 5" <$500.00 otd. Love that pistol, buy it you can always "turn it" if it is not to your liking. Keep in mind the extra's, Moon clips, loader, de-mooner, man it seems like it never ends. But worth every penny..:D

Demooner

Moon Clip Loader

Moon Clips
Have fun and be safe

that is a very good price they are going for $650 to $700 now some going for that don't have the box

Nope, You do not want it.:) If I had the cash, this pistol would of already been sold. Buy it while he still has it so I can move on. I was going to offer a trade, but noticed he is looking for cash. So if you get it and do not like it, I have a Sig 220 compact tu-tone DAK.

I just recently paid $550 for a 625-6 Model of 1989 and would do it again in a heartbeat. It's a really nice revolver.

My experience has been that they're pretty hard to come by - especially at a good price like that. The 5.0 inch barrel is very desirable - I wanted one when I bought my 625 years ago, but settled for a 4.0 inch barrel. I'd get it quick if I were you, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Regards,

Dave

I'll go along with the buy it sentiment. The 625 is an immensely popular revolver and it shows in the trend I've seen in my track of the 4-inch version. The 5-inch was ruled out of some competition and started showing up in some numbers a few years ago.

The four inch version has become more popular and my track is the non Jerry Miculek version no longer manufactured. So the pricing and trend shown in the track & chart below are probably high for the 5-inch version, but probably not by more than $50-$70 would be my guess.

Smith & Wesson 625 Revolver in .45 ACP, 4-in Bbl. Bluebook of Gun Values (30th Edition) indicates between $550 in 98% condition and $650 in 100% condition for this gun. I have 38 recorded prices for this model gun from $400 to $750 over a period of 6 Yrs 0 Mos ending May 31, 2009. The average price as of that date was $529. No refurbs, no refinishes, regular sights, all represented as 95% or better, no distinction for engineering revision, if any, no special editions, no distinctions for box, papers, tools. Current or last MSRP is $988.

Here's the chart:

Buy it!
Or send me the dealer's contact info.
I have a 3" 625-4 and would love to have the 5" to go with it.

I have both a 4" 625-8 JM Special and a 5" 625-6 Model of 1989 and neither of them will leave my hands until they bury me. They are WONDERFUL shooting tools!

Check out item no.26291 at Bud's gun shop. 4 in. 45 acp for 652. delivered. Non JM model 4 inch.

The 5" barrel version of the 625 is no longer being made. These versions are very highly coveted by the USPSA shooters. The -4 is probably the best variation out there. No lock, no MIM and no frame mounted firing pin. All three of mine will fire without moonclips. There is no excuse for NOT buying this revolver.

Thank you Gentlemen, the response is overwhelming! I pulled the Trigger last night and will pick it up tomorrow.

Thank you for all of the advice and look forward to sharing some pics.

Jody

Sorry, I should have done this sooner, here's a picture of my Model 625 wearing CT laser grips and a fiber optic front sight. Yeah, I'm a geezer, but even without my glasses and in poor light, if you're within 30 feet, things could get - eh, a bit interesting. She's a real tack driver and a soft recoiling pistol.

Best of luck,

Dave

That's what I have. Bud's must have had it in inventory somewhere because S&W hasn't offered it for a couple years as far as I know.
