Local seller has this 629-2 looks to be unfired. Comes with matching box, docs, and cleaning kit. Could not find any info on this gun in the Standard Catalog. Nor in the gun values book. Product code 103650. Also no closed auctions regarding this firearm. Check out the pics.
Any thoughts as to value. Seller wants $1180.00. Thanks to all.

The Pachs do not appear to be original to the gun. I may be mistaken.
That aside , thats way too much for the gun unless you are going to sit on it for a long time.
Can you bargain down?

I believe the Pachs are correct. There is another thread concerning this model stating that is how this was originally shipped from S&W. Still no explanation as to no info in the book on this one. Being a 3 inch, could not find anything on the internet for sale or in auctions. Also being unfired with the unfluted cylinder makes it a little more collectible.

I've got one that I bought used from a local gun shop in November of 2005 for $495. Price seemed a little steep at the time but I really wanted it. It's one of my absolute favorite guns and I wouldn't even consider selling it. Here it is shown with my 686 Classic Hunter.

I'd try to get them to come down a little. But, Ive seen that "configuration" sell for more. So, I would buy it at $1180, and be happy.:)

Run, do not walk and buy it!! The 3" guns are really gaining popularity of late. If it is truly NIB or even LNIB with matching box, docs and tools, that is a good price.

Should you buy it and not like it, PM me and I will buy it from you. Should you decide not to buy it, PM me with the contact information, I'll even throw in a finder's fee. :D

FYI, there are two distinct models with the same product code. There is a 629-2 and 629-2E, only way to tell is to look for the stamping inside the yoke. The 629-2E has the "endurance package" and is supposedly a little stronger for full power max loads. I believe the "endurance package" was added after some of the long range silhouette shooters experienced some problems shooting full power max loads.
I would not let the "E", or lack of, bother me one bit, they are both great revolvers.

Best of luck, Bob.

I think you can also tell if it has the endurance package by just looking at the cylinder stop notches. I think the E has the slightly longer notches.

I'd say go for it too, but do not buy it under the premise that it's unfired. Way too much power/carbon residue on the cylinder and on the rear of the frame in the cylinder recess.

Be sure to inspect first.
