Model 629 no dash safe queen

There is nothing in the case, no tools, no paper work, nothing! ! ! If you open the case you will be shocked! As Doc44 stated, the original covering of the liners did not(EVER) withstand the test of time! It deteriorated! I have recovered a gazillion of these liners and have own only one in original condition, until I touched it, then it fell apart!

Keep everything you have together as it left the factory that way! The total makes it a collectors item!

I know it's an old post but I am new to the forum thing. And I am an old
man. "vintage" in the firearm world. Just wanted to say I appreciate your input and am glad I found this forum. I figure if I leave the box—cheaply made **** box obviously in the original shrink wrap—well nobody can complain about condition. Except collectors may find a way. I've dealt with them on eBay and they cann be difficult to say the least. Other thing somebody fess up to throwing away the box of a new gun not knowing it had vslue like 30 40 years ago before the internet

I just bought a 19-6. Supposedly as new In box and a Winchester m25. Haven't taken delivery yet. Got it from gunslinger auction proxibid. Anyone dealt with them? I wonder if they take phantom bids from the gallery. Maybe better to not put in a max bid and just bid real time? I paid market I guess but full market for sure. Any thoughts? I can post pics when I get it if anyone wants

Thanks doc
Appreciate your input. I just realized the cleaning tools and the label and all the paperwork was under the s w wax paper. I hadn't looked until now. Oh my.

Will upload pics if I can figure it ouy

Here is a 629 no dash transitional recessed not pinned. It came in a blue box. It is wearing Culina black and white ebony grips. I have the original GA targets. I have toyed with the ideas of selling this or shooting it many times, but it keeps just sitting in the safe. Probably too lazy to find out the real value of it.

Sorry, for the picture turning
I think I replied to your pm. I think you need a degree in computers..oh wait I have one. Anyway $1400 if memory serves. It was a few years ago

The funny thing....

I used to. Also used to donate my S&W, Colt factory grips to the LGS $1.00 bin box.
About your post is a gun show I was at years ago had a display and a grip box full of 1.00 grips, rooting through the plastic, cheap wood and junk grips I found a set of diamond targets and a set of magnas, I sent one set to sebago's son and one set to hammerdown
When I got them back they looked better than brand new, now one pair adorns a 66 and one set adorns a 686, I've been really lucky finding grips, when I wanted a set of diamond cokes a member had a pair that were refinished for 180.00, all my saws have wood, I just love the look.

I just pulled my 19-4 out it is P&R

Is the 19-6 P&R ? The M25 is it 12 g? I seem to recall late 40s to early 50s, if you could post a pic please do it.

I have an unfired 1956 44 Magnum with the black box. You wouldnt believe the number of people who think I should take it to the range and fire it

Great photos of the 4" and 6" Model 629s. This thread needs a photo or two of "the other barrel length"... so here is the 8 3/8" P&R Model 629:

Mr. Mesa
You have an unusual case for your 629! It has the older type liners with the type hinges and latches used on the case that started in 1985.

This is the new type case of 1985. This case was sold as an after market item from S&W

Thanks Joe - I've never paid too much attention to the case with this gun. I cannot remember if it came with the 629 (SB N869198) or if I got the case at a later date. The gun did come to me with the smooth target grips, but my guess is that it shipped with standard target grips - so a prior owner could have switched some things. This is what the inside of the case looks like.

I have not lettered the or requested a ship date - that is on my list, but I guessed that it shipped sometime in 1982...

Thanks,

Hey Richard
My GUESS is your gun was shipped in the last quarter of 81. Good choice of grips for that gun! The Mahogany cases were shipped with many 629s but that practice stopped in approx 1982. The cases could be purchased, as an after market item, from S&W until about 1985. The 1985 catalogue listed the new type case in two different lengths. The longest length would fit the mod 29 Silhouette 10 5/8" barrel!
