Picked up a nice model 63 that appears almost new.
4" no dash pinned barrel, square butt.

Welcome! Looks to be a 1978 shipped gun, one of the earlier model 63s. Enjoy!

Edited to add: probably a $500+ gun.

Nice revolver. I recently picked one up and thoroughly enjoy shooting it. Ended up paying $450 for mine. Just be aware that you will need a cleaning kit at the range with you. The bores in the cylinder get enough of a build up after about 50 rounds that it is hard to eject the cases. Clean out the crud and everything works fine.

Thanks guys. I am looking forward to putting some rounds through it.
I own Browning, Ruger, handguns but this is my first S&W!!
Grips are small any suggestions on aftermarket?

I picked up mine - same model and dash, square butt, pinned in same condition - for 600 about a year ago.

Smooth targets work for me. Oddly enough the only shot I have is with its' bigger brothers. So look lower left here. I can't afford any more Smith's I might as well work on getting better pictures of my early one's.

You could go with the combats, but these are hard to find, especially like this pair. Someday I'll screw up the courage to put them on it.

Greetings all, new member... I also Just picked up a model 63 serial #BAN3633 any help with date manufacture would be greatly appreciated. I purchased in box with original grips, set Pachmayar presentation grips, unopened cleaning kit, no manual or paper work. Seller said it was purchased in 80s or 90s by relative and meticulously cared for. It looks virtually unfired... 99+% per receiving dealer. Paid 700 which included cost of shipping, handling and insurance.
