Model 631 Question

Purchased new (when current) at the Indianapolis show. I am the second owner. Shot a fair amount, but still solid and tight throughout. I've put on a set of target grips from a Model 34 for now, but really want to find another set of the Thai combat style grips like I put on my 60-4. I'm guessing they're a very dark Asian Rosewood, but look like Ebony.

OK, so the documentation includes a standard Warranty sheet, a standard Instruction sheet, and the blue survey sheet as well as a booklet of advertisements for "Apparel and Firearms Accessories".

I was correct about the SAT, and it's nice to see the details of the brush and swab. I had forgotten the change to a no-loop cleaning rod by that time. That will probably be the hardest item to find... I have several of the earlier style, but can't remember ever having one of the later, knurled ones. That little bar type SAT is getting thin on the ground here too... I think people disliked their cheap looks and discarded them.

Thanks all for your contributions. I'm sure others having similar revolvers of this vintage will also be able to benefit.

Froggie, if I can find them, I have several of the rods with the knurled end that came with the 9mm Sigmas.

Are you going to the N-SSA Spring National? If so, I'll bring you one. If not, PM me with your address and I'll mail you one (IF I can find one :D).

Thanks Gil. I've got one promised, but I'll be in touch before the Nat'ls if need be. BTW, are you coming to the CV Regionals this weekend?

Congratulations Froggie, you're gonna love that 631.

All of the 4 inch 631's came with smooth combat stocks. The 2 inch 631 also came with the smooth combats (center), but the 2 inch 631 Lady Smith came with smooth Rosewood stocks (top). The 632 Centennial came with Uncle Mike's combats (bottom).

Good one to miss Gil! I dragged my camper in and got it in place but not set when the rains came! No shooting for me this weekend and I'm leaving early. Bummer!
Now I'll have time to play with the 631... every cloud has a silver lining. ;)

Thanks to the help of friends from this board, I've been able to reassemble the original type set of tools and docs for my newly acquired 631. I can't decide whether I'll go to the effort and expense to try and track down the original type combat grips or just put on the Thai made combats I like so much on my 60-4. In the meanwhile, I've installed a nice set of targets from a Model 34. It looks kinda like a miniature model 66 now. ;)
