Model 637 Question?

Just wondering if S&W makes a revolver on the model 737 frame with a bobbed hammer?
If they do what would be the model number?

Don't know if it's still in production, but S&W produced through their PC a 637 "Wyatt Deep Cover" with a factory-tuned action and a bobbed hammer. There are several recent threads in which this DAO gun is described and debated on; a search will turn them up.

Many shooters are turned off by the logos; I own 2 "Wyatts" and could not love them more.

I'm wondering if I were to bobb the hammer on my 637-2 would I need a stronger main spring?

Just wondering if S & W put a stronger main spring in the "Wyatts" with that bobbed hammer?

No spring change will be required. Although you lose mass by removing the hammer spur, you gain velocity because of the lower mass. In the formula for kinetic energy the velocity value is squared while mass is just a singular multiple. In a nutshell, no spring change would be needed.

The only bobbed hammer variant of the 37/337/637 family that I recall was the Wyatt Deep Cover that the Performance Center put out in 2013

I went ahead and bobbed the hammer on my wife's 637-2. I left a little meat on it. That hammer is pretty small. I think it looks pretty good and will do just fine.
Thanks for the info and the pictures.
I will take it to the range tomorrow to be sure everything is OK with it.

Not too many years ago there were a slew of 37-2s on the market, ostensibly an overrun from an overseas order.

They had forged vs MIM parts , and bobbed hammers. I think that was about 2006. Got one.

I bobbed the hammer on a used 637 I got.

Went to the range this morning. It operated flawlessly. No problem at all.
That bobbed hammer sure makes it easier to carry with no chance of a snag withdrawing the gun.
Sure glad I went ahead and bobbed it. Very simple operation.

I bobbed the hammer on my 37 after I saw the few that were offered. It's one of my favorites.

i put a 638 hammer in my 637 - makes it look like 317 2"
