Model 64 Passion

my one and only 64. began life as a 4" sq butt and is now a 2 7/8" rd butt, bobbed and polished up. slick as glass action too. lee

That is a beautiful gun! Who did the work? And, how were the barrel markings handled?

DANG! I really didn't need to get a craving for yet another revolver! But, I guess I should know to stay away from this forum, huh?

So, when I bought my 638 last week, the store had just gotten a truck load of trade-in 2" M64's from the Dept. of Corrections.

At the time, I was interested in the 638 that I went in to look for, but I did notice the trade-ins. Now, I'm wanting one!

What would be a reasonable price to expect to pay for, say, a 2" 64-4 in good mechanical shape and just needing to be polished out to remove the typical handling marks found on police trade-ins?

The 2" Model 64 is a fantastic gun. You really "need" one. :)

Most of them I've seen for sale lately have been in the $350 to $450 range. I think I paid $375 for mine a few years back.

Well, someone has to hold the standard high for current production - my entire 64 collection:

My 4" 64-8 was bought locally 6/08 for $310 OTD at a LGS as a security guard tradein. It had been unissued - was literally NIB - even had the 'Club 1852' literature, less than a year old dated shot cartridge, and two soiled chambers. It spent it's first year here sporting some square conversion/fg Ahrends in cocobolo going to the range weekly - a fun plinker. It was great on the 'Steel Plate Challenge' ranges, too. It hit within an inch at 12-15yd with either my 125gr homebrew JHP plinkers or the Remington +P 158gr LHPSWCs. When that year was up, I put it's OEM UM's square combats back on - and relegated it to it's real use - it's a home protector. Great handfit and balance with either grip. I still sneak it out periodically - for some range fun! Hind sight is perfect - I should have bought at least two! With several thousand rounds sent downrange, it has been totally troublefree and the stock trigger has broken-in nicely... despite the two-piece barrel, MIM parts, and IL.

Stainz

PS Sad but true - I really could be pretty happy, home protection and plinking wise, if this were my only handgun. Gads, what did I just say? Blasphemy!!

Beauties all, but Mr. Lee Barner, yours is the slickest lil gat i could want for a CCW, i love it! Never felt the need to own one till this thread, wondering how hard it is to find a nice example?? Enjoy your weekends fellers. MIKE

Thanks,

No those grips did not come on it originally, but they are factory round butt targets.

Nice! I knew they are RB Targets, I searched in vain for a reasonably priced set to go on my 3" Model 10. I "settled" for Ahrends retro banannas which are similar in profile but uncheckered.

Here's a 2" 64 to keep the thread alive...

WITH ALL THE GREAT GUNS HERE...

jmstr, you might want to use a little discretion, there...
just sayin'...

Lee, I knew there was a reason I read all your stuff. You've
got great taste in firearms. 'Course, I'm biased in RB snubs.
That one is excellent!
