Purchased what at first glance I thought was a 4506 but is marked MOD 6453 serial range RSR 01XX. Traditional DA/SA (looks like a 3rd generation frame) stainless .45 acp with 5" barrel and winged adjustable sights. Has the original box with it. What's the story on it and does anyone else have one. Thanks.

I think what you have is a 645-3. Is the front sight part of the slide with with a plastic insert? These were part of the transition between 645 and 4506. These were sold thru RSR.

I saw this pistol this afternoon and If I remember correctly the front sight was a dovetail blade. The model number appeared laser etched and did not have any hyphen. Elmer.

The RSR transitionals are actually a pretty scarce gun.

I'm assuming it looks like a 3rd gen gun.

Of the 6450,6451 and 6452 they only made about 200 of each. I've not heard of the 6453.

I don't know if anyone actually collects these yet, so I couldn't guess at a value.

Added Pics and have been studying this piece and comparing it to pics of 645s and 4506s. Looks just like a 4506 no-dash except for the position of the red dot for the safety (this is on the slide and lacks one on the right side like a 645) and the magazine release cut-out on the right side of the frame (645 is a slot and 4506 has a little projection I guess to prevent rotation).

Excellent find! Just saw a 6590 sell on Auction Arms this week, only wish my pockets were deeper!

Just saw this string, realize I am coming in very late. Does anybody remember how much that model 6590 went for?
I have one NIB.

My Model 6453 is RSR0115

I also own a Model 6453 that I purchased new in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

I am trying to find a source of spare magazines. I found some from Brownell's a couple of years ago, but they seem to have discontinued selling them.

Any sources that you know?

Thanks!

It's a M645 transitional model and there is more than one variation. The 645 transitional model is the gun used by Sonny Crockett in the final season of Miami Vice by the way although it is reported (incorrectly I may add) as being a M4506. How do I know? I know the collector who bought it from Charles Gaunci Sr., the property master on the show and I have photos of the gun. So yes, IMFDB.com is in error.

RKPound,
Any 8 shot magazine for the 4506 family will work. Since the pistols are no longer manufactured (except for law enforcement special orders) you'll have to do some digging. Some local gun and pawn shops might have a few and you can also find them from FFL's that take police trade ins. I've also seen them regularly on the large auction sites.
