Model 65-5 from Heirloom Precision

Very nice. Hard to put down those 3" 65s. I absolutely love my 65-5 Ladysmith and carry it regularly in a Mernickle PS6 DA holster. Glad I got it back from that ex girlfriend in my younger days...

Nice revolver. Particularly that sight combination. If I favored stainless revolvers that would be the ticket!

Is the barrel original to the frame? The area where it butts to the frame looks different.

Hi Kevin,
Yes barrel is original. Ted Yost completely reprofiled it to better blend between his front sight and the frame.
My display at the Tulsa Symposium was this gun and a borrowed stock Model 65 ( thanks to LPD256) so you could see all the changes made by Mr. Yost.

Thank you. I wish I had been there to see it.

Kevin

Seven months later and still receiving accolades. I certainly concur.

As often said, "Everything you need, nothing you don't". And beautifully crafted besides.

Thanks for sharing.

It seems that if someone just wanted the sight changes, it would be a lot less expensive to start out with one of the much more common, and less expensive, 4" versions, and prune to 3". It's not totally a fixed sight revolver any longer, as the front sight looks like it could be pushed for windage. I would like it taller also, so I could file it to my point of aim for elevation. One time adjustable!

73,
Rick

Tim:

Your display was a great two gun display - although most of the attention was focused on the special gun in this thread. :D

Here are a few photos I took of Tim's "Then and Now" display.

Absolutely beautiful firearm. I sent my 3 inch to Springfield for the "combat revolver package". Highly recommend. Was $250 at the time. Action job, trigger stop, chamfer cylinder holes and bead blast. I also asked them to replace the side plate screws but to leave shiny. I then had the sides of hammer and trigger polished. Later had red ramp sight added - factory claimed they could not do the red ramp on fixed sight anymore.

Clearly, I didn't make myself quite clear enough. PM me with your really don't want to sell it price, or trade stock. Never hurts to ask...stuff like a Bob Chow Colt Commander...things you might not think about, but I might trade! The 65 is the gun from my youth...and this is probably the perfect 65.
