I purchased a stainless S&W 651 in 22 magnum. It is in great condition and seems like it was worth $600.00. Any information about the model 651 that can be shared would be great.

I have one that I use at the range quite often, I used it to teach my daughter to shoot with. It is a favorite of mine to small game hunt with. Mines came with the extra 22LR cylinder which really makes it a fun plinking gun, since 22 mag is so hard to find in my neck of the woods!
Did yours come with the extra cylinder?

Thanks for the link. I couldn't get my search to come up with anything. I'm doing something incorrectly.

Always use the Google Custom Search text box in the Search link, and the info wealth of the Forum shall be yours :).

I was offered a 2 inch 651 some 5-6 years back for $400, but passed up the deal, being in the midst of a Garand, 1903 phase.

Murphydog is right on the $$$

The SS Smith & Wessons are bringing good money and the 651/650's have a cult-like following.

Good luck with your new S&W :)

Not long after they came out I bought one to use as a "survival" type belt gun for a planned western hunt. You can easily carry 100 rounds in a pouch on your belt or in a backpack, and at that time I could see well enough to actually have a good chance of hitting a rabbit or grouse with it at a respectable distance.

I received it around Christmas of whatever year it was and a friend came over to take a look at it. He suggested we walk outside and give it a try. Until we got outside I had not noticed what an awful sight picture the red ramp and rather narrow-notch black rear blade gave me to work with. I was complaining about that as I loaded three rounds and fired them. We walked down to the target 15-yards away and all three holes were touching. This was using Winchester brand hollow-points. He decided complaining about the sights was not a real good use of my time.

My 651 is undoubtedly my most accurate small-frame S&W .22. And, as Jeff Cooper used to quip about the Model 51, a short-barreled .22 WMRF revolver "...is perfect for signalling!" Wear your ear muffs. :D

I've got one just like it that I gave the same money for a couple of years ago at a gun show. I thought it was on the high side at the time, but I hadn't seen one for sale in a very long while so I whipped out my billfold. My buddy there with me said he'd give me an extra $50 for it after I got it paid for. I smiled and said, ""No thanks!". I might have bought it a slight bit early then for that money, but I really don't think so. I certainly would not have trouble getting my money back for it today, and neither will you. It's just a neat revolver, and has a lot of practical uses beyond just shooting it for fun! Congratulations!!

22 Magnum 651

I have one that was bought for me new. Was curious about the value now. I've been offered 650 with the original box. I think it's worth more than that now.

Here is my 651 which came with a 22 LR cylinder too. I have only shot it with mags since I have other guns with are LR only. It’s loud but fun to shoot.
Regarding the value, there is a limited number of people who shoot 22 magnum so that reduces the value somewhat.

Mine actually came with the 22 LR cylinder also. & has been fired minimally. It's identical to the ones pictured.

I bought a 650 at a LGS last year.

Paid $750 with no 22LR cylinder. Not a great deal, but not too bad either.

22 Mag is fun to shoot.

And it's finally available again and prices are going down.

The loudness doesn't both me. It's no worse that a 38 Special and significantly less than a 357 magnum.

I have this same gun, 650 3", fixed sights, bought it new in '84 or 85. Neat little gun, I carried it occasionally for a couple of years. Still have the original box and papers, so it's now a safe-queen as it is in like new condition.

The 651 is a great survival gun in that one has the power of a .22 rifle in a pocket size handgun.

Have had several 651s and one 650. Found an extra 63 cylinder and had it fitted to one of the 651s. Sold the 650 mainly because it didn't shoot to POA for me...

My current .22 Magnum J is a 63 that was fitted with a 651/650 cylinder...an excellent shooter....
