Hello,

A local dealer near me that frequents the gun shows has a used Model 66 for $479. I did not get a chance to handle the gun but it looks identical to my fathers, which is a 66-1 with a pinned barrel and recessed cylinders.

Basically I'm asking if the $479 he had it marked at is a decent price. If not, what would be a better ballpark for me to try to work it to?

Thank You, I hope if everything works out on this, my 360J, 627 Pro Series, 6909, M&P9 FS and M&P9c will have a new brother.

how long is the barrel?
On gunbroker.com an older one go for under $400
also you see for the older ones thats higher then that have been running there ad for the last three months with no luck

I would offer $450.00 CASH out the door. Most M66 2 1/2 inch guns are going for $550.00 and up on Gunbroker.

I just bought a 66 no dash on Gunbroker for around $435.00. With shipping and FFL fee's it came to about $480.00. Still a good deal for me.

Also depends on what comes with it?

Correct grips, box, papers and/or tools?

And obviously the condition, so you will need to do the revolver checkout procedures to help ensure you will not have problems (cutting, endshake etc), extra expenses or a least a point to bargain on. I saw some chromed P&R Highway Patrolman the other day, kind of beat up, dirty not the best and now I understand what pushoff means.

Oh and that is the one model I'm looking for right now. Had I found a good one at that price, I would have bought it, keep in mind I would certainly try and want it for less. Let us know what happens.

I think that is a very decent price for a model 66 especailly one with a 2.5 inch if it's in decent condition even without the box and goodies. Around here that would go for $500 and would sell fast.

Yep, if everything checks out on it that snub would go for no less than $550 around my parts, maybe even closer to $600 depending on condition.

4" models go for much less around here.

Thank you everyone for your input. I will be calling the dealer tomorrow and see if it is still available. I love shooting my fathers 66-1, I shoot it better and prefer it to his other revolvers, including a 4" Python, 3 6" Dan Wessons and a Ruger Blackhawk.

I will try to work him down as much as I can, but if everything checks out when I handle it, It'll be sitting in my safe this week.

I've also been looking for a 66 but no luck yet.
The really nice ones that I like are priced like they're a limited edition.
Hopefully I'll have the patience to wait for what I consider a good deal.
I don't think $479 sounds too high, depending on originality and quality.

I have a 2 1/2" 66-1 with the original box and papers, original grips, a pair of Uncle Mikes, a pair of Pachmyer and a Bianche pancake holster for $550 last year. I bought it from one of my oldest and closest friends, and he offered to reduce the price to $500, but I could not do that to him considering all of the goodies he threw in. I feel that $550 was more than fair, and I have a SWEET revolver for the rest of my life. Hope my opinion and experience helps.

Minty LNIB 66-1 2 1/2 inch revolvers are going UP .

I have seen them sell as high as 700.00+++
