Model 66 Value and Rarity

I hadn't seen a partridge sight on one either but I did buy a model 19 nickel in the presentation box that came with a partridge sight and I had it changed out to a ramp sight with I first got it back around 1979 or so. I can't remember if I kept the old sight or the gunsmith kept it. Would be nice to trade the one off the model 66 for the one on the model 19! I also picked up this model 66-2 at my law enforcement supplier, it was broken. It was a police department trade-in and someone had put a new sear in it but didn't bother to fit it correctly. My instructor at Murray State College would be proud, I was able to fix it in short order and it works great. I even replaced the rear sight blade since it had been dropped at some point. Rough duty I guess?

Below are two more pictures of a 2k range Mod. 66 no-dash gun, NIB of which I'm the original owner.

This 66 is 100% correct as shipped from the factory. It has the original stainless rear sights, stainless Baughman style front sight blade, trigger stop, etc.

Many of these guns had their sights modified with a black rear blade and a red ramp front insert installed by a competent gunsmith. I don't recall seeing any no-dash 4" 66's being delivered during the day with the Patridge blade shown on the OP's gun. Special orders were common at the time, however, so anything is possible.

Completely original no-dash guns without any modifications ARE becoming scarce and many people who are attempting to restore their modified 66's to its original condition are finding the rear sight assemblies, especially, selling at a premium price...

I've been seeing the 4" 66 no dash guns in original condition selling for $750-850 without box or papers.

It does provide a great sight picture and the gun shoots to point of aim but that stainless rear sight is hard to see in most light conditions and especially in an indoor shooting range. I think I will make this one a safe queen for awhile and shoot some of the other "K" frames, they have been feeling very neglected over the years! I do like the all original look with the ramp front sight though.

Q tip & some BBQ paint could fix that rear sight. The paint will come off later if desired...

I made my own "red ramp" on mine with some Krylon safety orange paint. ;)

What a beauty. It was a steal I thought.

Gone in 20 minutes.

The price was towards the high end of the range mentioned. But still a nice pick up.

Lucky guy.

Who was that masked man?:D:D:D

Can't go wrong with a nice 66 No Dash! I have two of them. One with stainless sights, and one with the red ramp. :D
