My local LGS had this model 66 no dash for less than a new glock. Said it came from a sheriff dept in California. Anyone familiar with the SCSO 49 markings

San Clemente Sherriff"s Office?
Santa Clara Sherriff's Office?
California has a bunch of SC names to put in front of the obvious
SO = Sherriff's Office. Maybe someone in one of those areas will recognize the engraving style.

Great score!

I am always on the hunt for LE marked revolvers. Very cool find.
I am not familiar with the abbreviations. Hopefully someone here knows.
Many possibilities...
Shasta, Santa Cruz, lots of S's in CA

That engraving is not the typical S&W factory work. Makes me think it was done possibly by a private engraving firm that will do firearms work.

Without document support any sheriffs office with the sc as an abbreviation would be possible - anywhere from Maine to Florida, west coast to east coast.
Even in my old state of NY there would be a half dozen possibilities

Only two possibilities in Cal.
Either Santa Clara or Santa Cruz.

Unless the agency used the C in the acronym for "County", in which case there are eight others. :)

Agree it is worth less than a Glock, or more. ;)

A letter of authenticity may give you a clue to where it went, or the actual destination. Or you can start calling the public affairs officers from the counties.
