Hello all, looking to buy a Model 67 no dash,

trying to find info,

here are the numbers listed on the gun.

Mod 67

5K77161

34482

not sure what the bottom number is for.

also it has stamped on the side S.C.P.D. R

I would greatly appreciate if someone could research the serial number, and anything else you could find.

thanks

The gun you are looking at is an obvious former police revolver that was likely traded back for new guns at one time. The "R" at the end of the PD identity stamp likely indicates a gun no longer in their inventory. Buy it, you probably won't regret it.

I have a model 67 police trade in that's one of my favorite shooting guns. Has a few rough spots due to handling and duty wear but it's a great revolver. The police departments stamp on mine was over stamped on the last character which was probably a P originally (shown below). Bought this one 20 or more years ago.

The bottom number (if found on the frame under the yoke) is an internal factory assembly number and not useful once it leaves the factory.

The S.C.P.D. R is likely a law enforcement agency identity. If it's an Arizona gun, perhaps Sun City Police Department Reserve . . . or San Carlos, Santa Cruz, Steamboat Canyon, etc

The Model 67 is a great stainless steel variation of the classic Combat Masterpiece.

Have the same gun (#3Kxxxxx), purchased in 1973. Be sure to check the tightness of the small screw holding the rear sight set-up and the lug on the cylinder release latch. These tend to loosen unduly on early Smith stainless revolvers of that era.
