I am considering purchasing a 945 with 5" barrel in stainless steel. Can anyone advise the pros and cons of this pistol? Will it feed hollowpoint ammo? Thanks

I do not shoot hollow points. All my lead reloads cycled and were very accurate in this gun. My son has it now for I gave it to him when he
came back from serving in Kosovo.
Be advised it is not a 1911 design and magazines are expensive. The 945 takes down like all generation 3 semi automatics: however, it is
single action similar to a 1911.
I would buy one for myself if I found one at a good price.

I have one in the two tone, and feel it is the best pistol for the money. Mine is same hole accurate and a true pleasure to shoot.

Yes, the 945 will feed hollow point, flat points and round nose bullets with ease. The grip is straighter than a 1911 and flat in the front rather than rounded. I find it points better for me than a 1911.
I suggest that you keep the rails well lubricated during break in and only use the heavy spring.
You may have difficulty with reassembly due to the Briley bushing until you have performed the breakdown several times. It gets easier over time with practice.
The gun shoots better than I can, but, some claim it is not as accuate as a custom 1911.
If I were to only able to keep one .45 my 945 would be my first choice.

I have two 945's one is the small one and it is my carry gun. They both feed any factory 45 ACP with no malfunctions. After being a 1911 guy for many years, this is my choice for best 45.

On the plus side the 945 is extremely accurate with a superb factory trigger. On the minus side it's not a 1911 and it is more difficult to find grips, holsters, etc. I have used the 945 for bullseye pistol matches. My unit feed any bullet shape and weight with total reliability.
I appreciate the info guys. I really like the looks and feel of the 945, but was also considering a custom 1911 due to them being in a somewhat close price range. Also considering if I have to resell it in the future. Are there any problems or drawback with the barrel bushing in the 945?
It's basically the old Briley ring-comp. A little fiddly on reassembly, but nothing wrong with it, it's used on various PC guns.

I have several 945s in 5", 4" and 3 3/4". I have qualified with the 4" and 3 3/4". All are smooth, accurate and reliable. Never had a malfunction. I had no problem getting extra magazines or holsters. The articulating briley bushing reduces wear, provides for tighter tolerences, and is easily replaced if ever necessary. All of this is topped off by good ergonomics and great looks.

I had one of the no dash models with a Bomar rear sight . Grip frame is smaller than a 1911 & might be an issue if you have big hands . I wouldn't have a Briley bushing on a defensive gun , but would be OK for a range gun . They do come with many bells & whistles & are generally as accurate as a well fitted 1911 . Mine would hold 3" @ 50yds with WCC match ball . The trigger is very crisp with a 4 - 4 1/2lb pull . I prefer a " roll" trigger on my range guns . Often you can find a used one in Exc for $ 1000-1200 if you look .
